Week 8 Recap: First Place Sweated, Last Place Figured It Out

From half-point escapes to 12-4 beatdowns by a winless team, Week 8 was pure separation as the contenders kept climbing, the frauds started sweating, and the basement teams continued building their case for getting throwin in fantasy jail.

By: Gunnarrhea Week: 8 Feature: Matchup-by-matchup recap

Week 8 came in swinging and left half the league looking like they should be supervised when setting their lineup. BB barely escaped, Heorny and Goodyear kept looking dangerous, John’s Super Team showing domination yet again, and Mactown MacDaddies embarrassed themselves by becoming the team that let This is Mizerable finally feel joy. BOOOOOOO THAT MAN!

We're still ways away, but the playoff race is something to think about. Some teams are ready while a lot are definitely not. Week 8 gave us plenty of evidence for both.

BB's Bold Team vs Gunnarrhea

Result: BB’s Bold Team survived by half a point, which is impressive until you remember first place almost got their booty licked by a team sitting in seventh.
BB's Bold Team 8.5 – 7.5 Gunnarrhea

Suprise Suprise.... Another team NARROWLY avoiding a case of Gunnarrhea. It's just another fucking week of failure for the commish. Absolutely unbelievable. You know these things are real drag to write when i keep losing lol but being up huge most of the week only to fall short Monday morning is not something Gunnarrhea is unfamiliar with. But that doesn't make it hurt any less. But hey, BB being the "big bad dawg" he is, he sure had a hard time handling one of the bottom feeders, doesn't he? Very interesting.... Is BB just getting lucky or is he a legit 1 seed powerhouse?

This matchup was an absolute sweat though either way. Gunnarrhea came dangerously close to ruining BB’s perfect little view from the top of the standings. Gunnarrhea being up like 11.5 - 4.5 on Thursday had everyone thinking this was over. I even heard Me So Heorny put a bet of 5 shots of Rumpiez that Gunnarrhea would pull an upset over the 1 seed. Looks like y'all learned a valueable lessons and that's to never bet on Gunnarrhea. And it's time to pay your debt of 5 Rumpiez shots!!!

A half-point win still counts, but let’s not pretend this was pretty. BB walked out with the win, but Gunnarrhea made them look very beatable in the process. The hitting side was basically a knife fight. BB edged out HRs 15–12, RBIs 50–41, BBs 37–30, AVG .265–.252, TB 139–135 and Strikeouts 61-100 (100 FUCKING STRIKEOUTS?!?! BROTHER.....), while Gunnarrhea took runs 56–46 and steals 14–1. That 14 to 1 net stolen base gap is disgusting though... Ain't nobody fasther than me!!

Pitching was just as tight and just as awful for both teams. Gunnarrhea brought the heat with 98 Ks and matched BB in innings almost exactly, 82.2 to 82.1, but also ate 8 losses like the staff was trying to sabotage the week from inside the clubhouse. BB’s pitching ratios were not great either with a 4.26 ERA and 1.287 WHIP, but the saves/holds edge and fewer losses helped them crawl across the finish line.

League takeaway: BB’s Bold Team stays alive at the top, but barely beating Gunnarrhea by half a point is not a flex. And neither if your dumb face.

BTA Boyz vs John's Super Team

John’s Super Team didn’t just beat BTA Boyz — he turned their playoff hopes into a dream
John's Super Team 12 – 5.5 BTA Boyz

We know for a fact John's Super Team was looking for that legendary 16-0 sweep, but I'm sure he'll settle with a 11-5 win. But dude, things are getting a extremely sketchy for The BTA Boyz. Rumor has it they'll never win a game ever again. Espeically with that atrocious offense. John dominated on the offensive side, winning runs 51–40, HRs 21–11, RBIs 51–37, BBs 30–25, SBN 7–3, and TB 160–113. Jeepers my man, thats a real tough look.

BTA did have one thing going for them: the batting average was sick sitting at .282, compared to John’s .254. Cute little category win for The Kid. Unfortunately, batting average does not matter much when the other team is busy hitting 10 more homers and stacking almost 50 more total bases.

Pitching was closer, but John still found ways to pull away. Both teams finished with a 3.78 ERA, but John had the cleaner WHIP at 1.160, more wins, fewer losses, and more net saves/holds. BTA had more innings and more strikeouts, but also ate 7 losses. Guy might need to look into trading some pitching for hitting. Waiver wire might save the season. But what the fuck do i know? I'm sitting one seed ahead of The BTA Boyz.

League takeaway: John’s Super Team looks like a real contender at 5–2–1, while BTA Boyz falls deeper into the danger zone at 1–5–2. At this point, BTA is not chasing the playoffs — they are chasing respect.

Mactown MacDaddies vs This is Mizerable

This is Mizerable FINALLY get's on the board while the Mactown MacDaddies hit rock bottom.
This is Mizerable 12 – 4 Mactown MacDaddies

HOLY FUCK!! MACTOWN MACDADDIES...... WHAT THE FUCK?!?! THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! After having an incredbile Week 7 at the plate and taking down one of the powerhouses of league, the Nuketown MacDaddies is no more, COMPLETELY FOLDS, and give This is Mizerable their first win of the season! Jeeeeeeez man

I'm sure most of us we're wishing somehow This is Mizerable would somehow pull out a winless season. I bet even This is Mizerable wouldn't mind it happening either to be honest. But we figured it would eventually happen, and this was the week. This is Mizerable finally stopped being a fucking loser and handed the beatown to the MacDaddies. Mizerable did not exactly post a monster offensive week, but when your opponent hits .210, scores only 28 runs, hits 6 HRs, and finishes with 87 total bases, you do not need much. Hell, even The BTA Boyz can do damange against that kinda offense. All you just need a pulse

Mactown did manage to win RBIs 34–30, walks 40–29, and net steals 7 to -2, but that is where the compliments end. The rest of the offense looked like it was assembled during a quick break inbetween shootings at work. Mizerable took hits 74–53, runs 32–28, HRs 8–6, AVG .231–.210, and TB 117–87. The pitching side was where the MacDaddies kept it close, but they still couldn't keep it. This is Mizerable beat Mactown in IP 44.1–36, ERA 3.45–3.75, WHIP 1.128–1.444, Ks 53–34, wins 5–3, NS 11–1, and BAA .229–.271. That 11 to 1 net saves/holds gap is nasty work too. Good looks.

League takeaway: This is Mizerable finally got a win, and Mactown had the honor of being the team that made them look not like a piece of shit. That is not a just a loss — that is a legacy stain.

Me So Heorny vs Dixon Cider

Result: Are the 2023 champs back?! Dixon Cider is looking mortal
Me So Heorny 9.5 – 6.5 Dixon Cider

Me So Heorny coming up with the absolute big win against our 2025 defending champ, Dixon Cider! This was a legit statement win for Billy and his sidekick Danny. Dixon Cider came in OOZING with defending champ aura, but Heorny came up with a piching week that makes a matchup feel unwinnable. These are the kinda pitching numbers champions put up baby! A 2.75 ERA, 0.979 WHIP, 8 QS, and .197 BAA is filthy. Literally nothing anyone can do. I'm pretty sure these were some of my exact pitching numbers over at St. Laurence actually, which is wild. But Dixon threw more innings with 86 IP, but unfortunately a lot of those innings just lead to getting cooked.

Dixon Cider's offense actually did its part. They won runs 32–29, RBIs 46–34, BBs 31–29, SBN 2 to -3, and TB 119–114, so this was not some full-team collapse. The bats kept them alive. The pitching staff just wasn't it this week. Which ya know what they say.... That's showbizz baby!!!!

Heorny’s offense was not explosive, but it was efficient enough, and the pitching carried the rest. Even with Dixon winning strikeouts 76–73 and pushing more volume, the ratios were a disaster: 5.13 ERA, 1.465 WHIP, and .274 BAA.

League takeaway: Me So Heorny proves to be like a real title threat, while Dixon Cider just proved that even defending champs can get dragged when their pitching staff folds. Dixon Cider needs that offense back into shape if they're looking to repeat

You Don't Know Bo vs Goodyear Gila Monsters

Result: GM of The Year taking a snooze yet again. Goodyear back to taking care of business with ease
Goodyear Gila Monsters 11.5 – 4.5 You Don't Know Bo

Goodyear get's back on track after a nasty loss last week by creaming all over the 2025 GM of the Year, You Don't Know Bo. This was a good break for Goodyear as this was a stress free win, which i guess going against Bo is stress free for everyone except for Gunnarrhea... Fuck you McChinn.

Even though the score was lopsided, this wasn't a complete blowout. Bo actually had a few bright spots. They won AVG .269–.230, net steals 8–2, and RBIs 35–30. But Goodyear controlled too much everywhere else, taking ABs 335–264, hits 77–71, runs 43–37, HRs 10–8, BBs 29–25, and TB 128–109.

The real difference was pitching. Goodyear’s Skubal-less staff was disgusting: 3.05 ERA, 0.919 WHIP, 55 Ks, 4 wins, 3 net saves/holds, and an insane .182 BAA. Bo’s pitching, meanwhile, posted a 4.85 ERA and 1.336 WHIP, which is not exactly Pete Lotus approved. Goodyear only threw 41.1 IP, but they made those innings count. Bo threw 42.2 IP and mostly made everyone count the damage. I bet Bo can't wait for Crochet to get back, even though it would make no difference at all

League takeaway: Goodyear keeps looking like one of the most dangerous teams in the league, while Bo remains the weekly reminder that he gives huge trash can vibes.
