Union of Ten Idiots: Playoffs - Round 1 Recap
Fantasy Baseball Weekly Recap

The Bracket Gets Blown Up

Goodyear survives as the only top-four seed left, Gunnarrhea infects the fake 3 seed, John's Super Team wakes up from a five-game coma, and This is Mizerable ends Dixon Cider's title defense.

By: Gunnarrhea Week: Round 1 Feature: Matchup-by-matchup recap

Round 1 took the regular-season standings, crumpled them into a ball, and launched them straight into the fucking trash. Goodyear Gila Monsters handled business as the No. 1 seed, but the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 seeds all got sent home immediately. BB's Bold Team got embarrassed, Me So Heorny got infected despite treating the waiver wire like an emergency room, and the defending champion Dixon Cider will officially not be going back-to-back.

That leaves Goodyear as the only top seed that actually remembered the playoffs started. Gunnarrhea picked the perfect week to put together one of its best all-around performances of the season, John's Super Team snapped a five-game losing streak at the exact moment it mattered, and This is Mizerable completed one of the nastiest season turnarounds in league history by going from basement resident to semifinalist. Four teams move on, four seasons are dead, and the bracket already looks absolutely nothing like it was supposed to.

Goodyear Gila Monsters vs Mactown MacDaddies

Result: The 1 seed survives the upset apocalypse.
Goodyear Gila Monsters 11.5 – 4.5 Mactown MacDaddies

Our #1 Seed, Goodyear Gila Monsters, handled business against Mactown MacDaddies and moved on to the Semi Finals. This is was no suprise to anyone considering on how dominant Goodyear has been the last month. But let me tell ya, that offense was looking as good as ever as they out up 48 runs, 14 HR, 50 RBI, 159 TB, a .275 AVG and 9 NSB, which gave Mactown almost no room to breathe. But that pitching man.... ain't looking too sharp! In fact, some might say they fucking sucked ass as they put up a 5.77 ERA, 1.595 WHIP, .311 BAA, but that shit still didn't matter because MacDaddies couldn't close.

Mactown MacDaddies officially closes the book on 2026 with an offense that picked the worst possible week to go quiet. A .225 AVG, 32 RBI and 119 TB just wasn't enough, even though the pitching staff actually gave them a chance with a 3.51 ERA and 1.243 WHIP. The season wasn't all bad for them, even though the finished in 8th. Murakami looks like a monster long-term piece and the offense had plenty of electric stretches this year, but the same roster flaw is still sitting there screaming at them: there is no dependable ace anchoring this staff. If Mactown wants to stop being a fun regular-season team and actually scare somebody in October, pitching has to become priority No. 1.

League takeaway: Goodyear's pitching tried to sabotage the season and Mactown still couldn't make it interesting. The 1 seed lives.

Me So Heorny vs Gunnarrhea

Result: Sixteen waiver pickups later, the infection still won.
Me So Heorny 5.5 – 10.5 Gunnarrhea

Well, well, well... y’all can thank me later. The fake 3 seed, Me So Heorny + The Waiver Wire, caught the nastiest case of Gunnarrhea all season, and apparently all 16 emergency pickups still couldn’t find the cure. Heorny piled up plenty of pitching volume with 119 strikeouts, 7 wins, and 9 quality starts, but it took a ridiculous 118.1 innings just to edge Gunnarrhea in wins and QS — while Gunnarrhea did its damage in only 78.2 innings. And after all that panic streaming, it still didn’t fucking matter. Gunnarrhea’s bats took over the matchup and helped send the fake 3 seed home by five categories. Thanks for adding that extra money to the pot my guys.

Gunnarrhea picked the perfect time to have one of its best weeks of the entire season. The offense dropped 18 HR, 58 RBI, 163 TB and a .270 AVG, while the pitching staff went full playoff mode with 7 wins, 95 K, 8 QS, a 2.63 ERA, 1.004 WHIP and ridiculous .189 BAA. This wasn't some lucky little upset where one category bounced the right way — Gunnarrhea flat-out showed up and punched the 3 seed in the mouth. The infection has officially spread to the semifinals. Watch out Mizerable

League takeaway: Me So Heorny spent the week adding players. Gunnarrhea spent the week adding categories.

BB's Bold Team vs John's Super Team

Result: Five straight losses, then The Ice Man wakes up and murders the 2 seed.
BB's Bold Team 4.5 – 11.5 John's Super Team

BB's Bold Team picked a spectacular time to embarrass himself with one of their worst weeks of the season. The offense wasn't completely dead — 53 runs and 33 walks kept a few categories alive — but the pitching staff absolutely buried them with 1 win, 7 losses, a 5.43 ERA and .265 BAA. This is a team that lived at No. 1 or No. 2 for basically the entire year, then walked into Round 1 and never even looked like it belonged on the same field. All that regular-season pop just to get bounced 11.5–4.5 is hilarious. Good luck in Fantasy Football my guy.

John's Super Team!! Here we fucking go baby! After limping into the playoffs on a five-game losing streak, John waited until elimination baseball to remember how to win. The offense put up 51 runs, 48 RBI and 8 NSB, while the pitching finally stopped looking like Jake Bramble pitching at some Westside baseball games as they put up a 2.09 ERA, 1.045 WHIP, .198 BAA and 5 wins. The timing could not have been better: sleepwalk through the end of the regular season, then wake up just in time to knock out the 2 seed. Absolutely disgusting. Go get Goodyear baby!!

League takeaway: BB spent all year looking like a title favorite. John needed one week to make all of it completely irrelevant.

Dixon Cider vs This is Mizerable

Result: The defending champ gets thrown off the throne.
Dixon Cider 5.5 – 10.5 This is Mizerable

Dixon Cider's title defense is officially dead in Round 1, which means there will be no back-to-back champion in 2026. Dixon wasn't awful — 42 runs, 40 walks, 86 pitching strikeouts, 6 QS and a 3.66 ERA are respectable playoff numbers — but respectable doesn't mean shit when the other team keeps taking the categories that matter. The offense just didn't have the usual pop they've had in recent year. A .248 AVG, 31 RBI and a 3–6 pitching win-loss line left just enough openings for Mizerable to steal the win.

This is Mizerable!! Let's fucking go baby!!! This team started the year buried at the bottom with an 0-6 start. They looked completely dead for weeks, and mostly thank's to that pitching staff, they turned the entire season around enough to knock out the defending champion. Mizerable put together 47 runs, a .259 AVG and only 60 offensive strikeouts, then backed it up with 6 pitching wins, 90 K, a 1.158 WHIP, 6 QS and .232 BAA. From early-season laughingstock to semifinalist is one hell of a fucking arc, and now nobody gets to call this team harmless anymore.

League takeaway: Dixon's repeat dies in Round 1, while the team that once looked destined for last place is still playing for a championship.
